Yes in the space of 6 odd weeks we went from “We're All Going on a Summer Holiday” to “CH CH CH CHANGES”
The end of June to end July is pencilled out so that each members of the band can take a summer break – more of which later. However; no sooner had we started our 'Holz' than our drummer Paul was told his visa would not be renewed and he had to leave the country. We knew he may be going back home to the US in summer 2025, but this left us in a bit of a pickle. Karl scoured the world wide web and we finally have a replacement, so it’s a big hello to Peter Morgan.
These things are never easy and as all the individual band members wouldn’t be back together and able to rehearse in order to get Pete up to speed, we had to cancel the gig we had arrange at the Thetford Conservative Club, (the first and hopefully last time we have ever had to cancel a gig). Still the same thing happened to us for the gig the following week where the venue cancelled on us. But as one door close as they say, we now have a gig much closer to home at Fendick’s Fishery, Whittington on September 28th. The gigs keep rolling in and we now have 7 gigs already booked for 2025.
Our first gigs after summer have been at Rugfest in Haverhill on the August Bank Holiday Saturday where we were onstage at 8:00 p.m. and then the following night Sunday, at The Worlington Beer Festival where we played from 6:00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. (our third year of playing there). As usual we were lucky the rain on Saturday cleared just as we arrived to set up and the rest of the night was really nice, and the weather for Worlington was once again really good. It is always a worry playing outdoors (particularly on an August Bank Holiday) but so far whenever we have, even if there was thunder and lighting and torrential rain as we set off the actual gigs turn out sunny.
We need to say a very sad goodbye to Paul who was a fantastic drummer and any band he joins back in the good ol’ US of A will be incredibly lucky to get him.
Anyway with new gigs coming in for 2025 and still loads to do this year the band will probably need another holiday sooner than later, hopefully next year we won’t have any members of the band deported!
As to this year’s holidays Ray went all over England, Karl and Callum hit up the wilds of Scotland and I do my usual Italian grand tour! So I will sign off with a few snaps of these great places.
