It was the best of rhymes it was the worst of rhymes.................
Ok so I'm no Dickens but I guess that sums up the last month or so. On the downside we lost our drummer Paul, had various injuries and illnesses and had some gigs cancelled. However the upside has been far more positive.
Our new drummer Pete went through trial by fire to get over 3 hours of our set list under his belt in a few weeks and after the two bank holiday gigs which I mentioned in my last blog post (check it out if you haven't yet - there is sure to be more bad puns somewhere in it if you look hard enough) we played at a private party at a campsite near West Stow. Once again our luck held out. It was the last weekend in August and the weather was great. Didn't even need a jumper the whole evening! It seems that the weather gods love us, so if you are planning an outdoor event we are the ones to hire!!!
Our most recent gig was at a pub called The Limeburners, in Offton, near Ipswich, and what a night it was.
Firstly I have never found a pub so dedicated to all sorts of live music and simply 'having fun'. The staff were brilliant ( you can see them standing on the bar dancing if you check out the video).
The night of the gig was also a celebration of Vanessa's 40th birthday, and it was a superhero themed night. The crowd were bonkers! They had all gone to town, dressing up, make up etc. They certainly made our night. After 3 hours of playing they weren't ready to stop and we ended up playing another half an hour in encores. It should also be said it was my birthday that night and Pete's the following day, so we were definitely up for a good time. So a big thanks to Helen and all at The Limeburner's we will be back again next year.
As a result of cancellations our next gig is now back at The White Hart in Kings Lynn on the 19th October, again a great place to see live music.
So its no Hard Times for us just Great Expectations! Check us out there if you can - there are certainly better laughs in the live set!
