We Are A Band That Likes to 'Fit In'

Writer: Larry DayLarry Day

So, one of the challenges with being a five piece covers band with a full lighting and PA system is, sometimes we have too much equipment for the venue. That is without the fact that some of the band (not mentioning any names Ray) take up a lot of space as well!

Saturday 21st October and the venue was The London Tavern in Attleborough. A pub I remember well from my misspent youth in the 1970s, misspent usually in The London Tavern. Although the layout had changed the atmosphere was still as good as ever. But it was a challenge to get ourselves set up, in the end we had to abandon some of the lighting rigs and foldback monitors but with a bit of hard work (and putting Paul our drummer out of sight round the corner) we succeeded - sorry Paul. Unfortunately for me, I was directly in front of the lighting rig, so it was very hot and I think I may have got a suntan!

The bar staff and owners of the Tavern were lovely and really helpful, this was topped off by an exceptionally appreciative audience who manage to find enough space to dance and sing along.

While we always remember to take pictures of us setting up, like numpties once we are playing we forget to take any more - so if you ever get to see us and take any pictures or videos then we would be happy to publish them just wing them over by email, messenger or whatever. Given the torrential rain which had caused significant flooding in Attleborough there was some concern that travel to and from the venue would be an issue. As it is it turned out, it was mostly ok (except for Ray who took 2 hours to get home - he said it was the floods but his fondness for McDonalds might be in part responsible!)

So thank you to all at The London Tavern - it seems we will be playing there again next year once we sort out a date. We had a blast - and in the end we did 'fit in'. Larry

Karl and Callum working out the logistics

...thinking.."I dont think the bass player will fit in that"

How Paul could get in and out of his position behind the drums stumped us all

The band relax - set up nearly an hour before kick off

Callum gives the thumbs up- we are good to go
