We didn't make a Charlie of ourselves at our Coronation Gigs!

Writer: Larry DayLarry Day

Well, to be fair one of us did but more of that later. Two quite different Coronation gigs in 24 hours over the weekend and both went down a storm. Quite literally on the first night at Moulton as the outside event had to be moved indoors thanks to torrential rain. The kids still had fun outside on the bouncy castle as kids do.

Finding two places in the hall to set up both the afternoon band "Jazz Incorporated" who played a great warn up set and for ourselves proved a bit of a challenging, but we managed it.

I must admit that there was an 'incident' shortly before we played, ummm 'someone' was messing around with the highly sticky gaffer tape used to secure our cables to the floor and used a bit of it as a pretend pony tail. After about 15 mins of people trying to carefully remove it from his hair without leaving a bald spot, a call was sent out over the P.A., "is there an emergency hairdresser in the audience?"

The emergency hairdresser took some time in responding we weren't sure why !

Following some superb emergency repair work I was, I mean the band member was able to continue to get ready for the gig.

And what a gig it was. It's really great when the audience get up and dance (with or without the aid of alcohol!) and the Moulton crowd didn't let us down, as you will see from the video below:

Our second gig over the weekend was actually an afternoon Coronation celebration at Foulden, a very different type of event with an older audience, so we had to start a little bit more laid back with the music, but by the end of our set everyone was up and dancing again - not bad for 6:30 in the evening.

Quote of the day for us was: " you are the best band I've seen live since Whitesnake"! We even had some audience participation when we were asked if someone could sing one of our cover songs with us, in this case Bad Moon Rising, and being the ever helpful chaps we are, we were happy to oblige, and to be fair she could really belt it out.

Again the organisers in particular Rosie ( who gave each of us a kiss at the end) were wonderful., and we look forward to playing for them again. So, it was an exhausting, but a thoroughly fun weekend despite the odd ponytail incident.
